Man charged with attempted sex assault
Morristown Police Department Officers Richard Lamperti and Michael Molnar arrested Rick Wilkins, aka Ricardo Wilkins, DOB 06/26/62, LKA Market Street Mission, on charges of 1st degree Aggravated Sexual Assault, 3rd degree Possession of Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, 3rd degree Criminal Restraint and 3rd degree Terroristic Threats.
Morristown Police Officer Richard Lamperti responded to a 911 call shortly after 1am on April 1, 2010 from an adult female at the Morristown Train Station wherein the victim requested police assistance.
The victim alleged that she was approached by the defendant who allegedly threatened to assault her if she did not perform a sex act on him.
The victim was able to get away from the defendant and notify the Morristown Police Department.
The victim provided Morristown Police with a description of the alleged actor. Morristown Police Officer Michael Molnar located the alleged actor near the train station with his pants zipper down.
The defendant was arrested on open municipal warrants from Harrison and Newark and also charged with the above listed charges.
Morristown Detective Keith Cregan conducted the follow up investigation and interacted with Morris County Prosecutors Office Assistant Prosecutor Melanie Smith with regard to investigative issues and charges.
Bail was set by Superior Court Judge David H. Ironson in the amount of $250,000 no 10%, cash, bond or property and the condition of bail to have no contact with the victim, and to provide an address as he is no longer allowed to reside in the Market Street Mission.

Despite these pending charges, every defendant is presumed innocent, unless and until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt following a jury trial at which the defendant has all of his/her rights guaranteed by the United States and New Jersey Constitution and relevant state law.
