Morris County man charged in connection with stabbing

Morris County Prosecutor Robert A. Bianchi, Esq. along with Rockaway Borough Chief of Police Douglas Scheer announce the arrest of one individual in connection with a stabbing which occured in Rockaway Borough.
On Saturday, March 27th 2010, at approximately 12:44 a.m., the Rockaway Borough Police Department was dispatched to a 911 call for a dispute in progress involving a large group of individuals at West Main and Elycroft Avenue, in Rockaway Borough, New Jersey.
Members of the Rockaway Borough Police Department along with surrounding police departments and the Morris County Prosecutor's Office Major Crime Unit, Intelligence Crime Task Force and the Morris County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Section responded.
The subsequent investigation revealed that two individuals were alldgedly engaged in a physical altercation on the street. The male victim, D.O.B. 11/91 who was at the scene collapsed as a result of injuries which were sustained during the altercation.
One of the individuals, who was later determined to be Marco Gonzalez, allegedly fled the scene in a dark blue Honda Civic.
The victim was transported to Morristown Memorial Hospital where he is currently being treated for multiple puncture wounds to his back and a laceration to his arm.
The injuries were determined to have been consistent with knife inflicted stab and cutting wounds
It is alleged that during the altercation between Marco Gonzalez and the victim, a third male individual, D.O.B. 11/90 attempted to intervene in the struggle. As a result, this victim received a laceration on his wrist which was consistent with a knife-inflicted wound.
A county wide police broadcast alerted all surrounding towns to be on the lookout for a dark blue Honda Civic with tinted windows, traveling westbound and heading towards the Dover area from Rockaway Borough. Within approximately 5 minutes of the police broadcast, Randolph Township Police observed a vehicle matching this description and executed a motor vehicle stop of the suspect vehicle.
An individual identified as Marco Gonzalez, D.O.B. 6/23/91 was located in the vehicle. He allegedly had a large amount of blood on his hands, face, and clothing. As a result of the subsequent investigation the following individual was charged:

Bail was set at $50,000.
Morris County Prosecutor Robert Bianchi stated:
"This investigation is ongoing, and we are looking into any information regarding the motive for this altercation. Despite these pending charges, every defendant is presumed innocent, unless and until found
guilty beyond a reasonable doubt following a jury trial at which the defendant has all of his/her
rights guaranteed by the United States and New Jersey Constitution and relevant state law.
